Game 12
6/30/2016 11/12 All Stars Game 12
Hosted by Sunnyvale Metro at Raynor Park
Reported by Kevin Kelly, Tournament Director

SC Homestead 15, Mt. View 0 (4 innings).

Baseball may be a team sport, but Santa Clara Homestead's Owen Swanson almost single-handedly beat Mountain View in Thursday's 11/12 All-Stars elimination game.

Swanson pitched a complete game shutout, striking out 10 of the 17 batters he faced in the shortened 4-inning game. Meanwhile, at the plate he homered in both the first and second innings to pace Homestead's offense.

Homestead catcher Jacob Schlessleman called a great game and also homered, while leadoff hitter Chris Zhang reached safely in all 4 plate appearances and scored 4 runs. Karan Vazarani also hit in all 3 of his at-bats, scoring 3 runs for Homestead.

Mountain View mounted threats in the first and third innings, but couldn't cash in. Gabriel Barrett and Chase Bandy each singled with 2 outs in the first, but were left stranded at second and third by Swanson's third strikeout of the inning. In the third, Mountain View loaded the bases on singles by Devran Orens and Nathan Moore and a walk by Barrett. But two quick strikeouts ended any hope for a comeback.
